Peering; Ever Peering into the Crystal Ball

Flailing a bit as of late, I have fallen to 101-61. I polished up the crystal ball this week and realized there was dirt on it, so that may have had some effect. Let’s get to it.

New Orleans @ Atlanta – I think the Saints are too good of a team to lose to Atlanta. However, stranger things have happened, especially since New Orleans is on the road. Still, I’m not willing to take this long shot.  Saints 37 – Falcons 23

Pittsburgh @ Cleveland – Just when you think Pittsburgh is coming around and should win against a team they should beat, what happens? The Steelers are coming off a great second half performance where they shut down the Lions and came back to win. The Browns lost big to the Bengals. I like Ben more than Campbell though.  Steelers 31 – Browns 24.

Tampa Bay @ Detroit – The Bucs win streak ends here. I think the Lions will come out smoking at home and not look back. The Bucs are playing much better, but this time, they are in too deep. Stafford and company will be better. Lions 38 – Bucs 20.

Minnesota @ Green Bay – Mr. Rodgers is needed desperately in this neighborhood, but the Packers have what is needed to end this skid: the Vikings at home. This won’t be a whitewash by any means. There is still AP and the suspect Packer defense. Packers 24 – Vikings 20.

Jacksonville @ Houston – This game is nothing more than to see which team is the worst in the AFC South and maybe the league. Jacksonville has been scrappy but lacking talent. The Texans are a mess and now Kubiak wants to start Keenum again after yanking him in the third quarter last week. Andre is much happier with Keenum and the Jags defense is bad. Texans 30 – Jaguars 21.

NY Jets @ Baltimore – New York is supposed to win this week after going WLWLWLWLWLWL all year.  Buffalo destroyed them embarrassingly. Baltimore lost a wild one to Chicago last week and they are trying to find themselves. Flacco has to improve to beat this defense. I’m going with the trend this week. Don’t ask me why.  Jets 27 – Ravens 24.

San Diego @ Kansas City – The Chiefs are coming off a loss to Denver and are at home. San Diego has been floundering and this KC defense is not kind. Could KC be looking past the Chargers to next week’s re-match with Denver? I don’ think in a division game. Chiefs 24 – Chargers 17.

Chicago @ St. Louis – The Rams went into Indianapolis and destroyed the Colts, then went on a bye. The Bears are resurging some after Cutler’s injury and McCown is picking up the pace. Teams are moving the ball on Chicago, but the Bears are still 6-4 and tied for the division lead. I have liked the Bears since pre-season and think they are a superior team, here. Bears 30 – Rams 19.

Carolina @ Miami – This is an intriguing matchup. Carolina is rolling and are convincing people of their credibility with wins over SF and New England. Miami got back on track and are at 5-5, but do they have the weapons to counter that Panther defense?  Carolina has it in a close one. Panthers 26 – Dolphins 22.

Indianapolis @ Arizona – Arizona is 6-4 and riding the defense. Carson Palmer came alive last week throwing over 400 yards. The Colts have been getting brutalized in the first half of games lately yet seem to come away with wins.  After beating Denver they are 2-1, but barely beating Houston and Tennessee and getting slaughtered by St. Louis.  Although three in a row, the Cards haven’t been that impressive either taking out Atlanta, Houston and Jacksonville. I think the Colts will suddenly come alive a bit in Arizona. If they fall behind again, they may be in trouble. Colts 30 – Cardinals 23.

Tennessee @ Oakland – New QBs are always the happy buzz and McGloin is no exception. He brought Oakland a much needed win last week and everything is ok. Well, I think Tennessee is good enough to give this kid some trouble.  The Titans worst loss is 14 points to the Niners and all other losses are single digits. Oakland is still in need of personnel. Titans 28 – Raiders 24.

Dallas @ NYGiants – Do you know Big Blue can tie Dallas with a win and creep to within 1 game of Philadelphia? Everything keeps telling me to take Dallas coming off a bye, but I am diving in for five straight! Giants 38 – Cowboys 35.

Denver @ New England – This is a classic matchup again of two of the greatest QBs of their time. Peyton and Tom should provide a good one.  Two things stick out: 1. Denver has too many weapons and 2. This isn’t the playoffs. Broncos 38 – Patriots 31.

San Francisco @ Washington – Washington is in a state of disarray with some internal squabbling. I’ve said San Francisco isn’t the juggernaut everyone thought they were earlier. But I also know they are much better than Washington. Forty Niners 31 – Redskins 22
