WEEK 6 Visions in the Crystal Ball

While sitting at 45-32 for the year, I polished the crystal ball so I could see more clearly. Let’s get to it!

New York Giants @ Chicago – The Bears are on a two game skid and the Giants a five game slide. They have to win sooner or later, but the Bears aren’t the best team to snap a streak against. Neither defense has played very well and the Giants have thrown games away. I think Chicago wins this game and basically ends the Giants hopes of any sort of season salvation. Bears 34 – Giants 24.

Green Bay @ Baltimore – I quit trying to figure out Baltimore. You hop on their bandwagon and they play lousy; you jump off and they step up and look like division winners. I think I know what Green Bay has and I like it. I will take the 3rd overall offense against the 20th all day. Packers 31 – Ravens 20.

Philadelphia @ Tampa Bay – Tampa Bay is now free of Josh Freeman. Ok, now what? Martin isn’t running well, and the passing game stinks. It’s the 29th ranked offense of Tampa versus the 30th ranked defense of Philly. Tampa has the 12th rated defense, but the Eagles boast the 2nd rated offense. All things point to Philadelphia. Eagles 24 – Buccaneers 17.

Pittsburgh @ NY Jets – Nobody believed in the Jets before the season started. Now they are 3-2 and look out! They are playing decent football. Pittsburgh is coming off a bye sitting at a disastrous 0-4. They acquired Levi Brown from Arizona to put in at left tackle. That’s not a thrill, but I think they upgraded. Pittsburgh has Le’Veon Bell and Heath Miller back. A loss kills the Steelers, but not the Jets. Steelers pull one out. Steelers 27 – Jets 22.

Carolina @ Minnesota – The Panthers continue to disappoint, and Minnesota has a QB controversy.  Who will it be? Cassell? Freeman? Ponder has been injured and Freeman let on he was happy to be in Minnesota because they already had a guy.  A real hint of eagerness there.  Carolina has to get it going, but Minnesota can get after the QB. AP is the big star of the Viking offense. This should be a real close game. Ones Carolina is accustomed to losing.  Panthers 24 – Vikings 21.

Oakland @ Kansas City – Oakland is coming off a huge divisional win, and Kansas City is still undefeated. The Chief defense is enough in this one. They have a better offense and defense. No team will go undefeated, I don’t believe, but the Chiefs should go 6-0. Chiefs 27 – Raiders 17.

St. Louis @ Houston – Matt Schaub is being harassed by fans and the Texans have dropped 3 straight. St. Louis has won 2 in a row, but they have been far from impressive. I think Houston gets back on track despite their woes. Schaub is still a QB who can get it done and should handle the Rams. Bradford has not been able to really get it going although Zac Stacy tends to beef up the running attack. A must win for Houston. Texans 36 – Rams 23.

Cincinnati @ Buffalo – Spiller may be out and Buffalo is leaning on practice squad QB, Thad Lewis. The Bengals will feast on him as Stevie Johnson nurses a sore back and Fred Jackson appears to be the only weapon left. This should end quickly. Bengals 28 – Bills 14.

Detroit @ Cleveland – This game is very interesting. The Lions don’t have a legit #2 WR if Calvin comes back and no legit WR if he doesn’t. Hoyer is gone for the Browns, which means they go back to the guy they benched in Brandon Weedon.  McGhee is fully entrenched as the starting RB and Josh Gordon is almost uncoverable at times.  Calvin’s return is crucial as the Brown defense is very good. Much is riding on this game so early. Lions 24 – Browns 17.

Tennessee @ Seattle – The Titans cannot run the ball and Jake Locker is hurt. The Seahawks can run the ball and are coming off a tough loss. I see Seattle taking this at home easily as Wilson cranks it up a notch behind Beastmode.  Seahawks 34 – Titans 17.

Jacksonville @ Denver – Any given Sunday, right? Nope. The Broncos will crush the Jags and there’s not much else to say about it. Look, anything is possible, but I can’t see this one even close for awhile, so it probably will be.  Broncos 47 – Jaguars 17.

New Orleans @ New England – The Patriots don’t look anything like they last year with Welker and Gronk. Gronk may be back, but at what kind of game shape? The Saints are looking very good and the defense has stepped up big. The Saints should win, but they are in Foxboro and Brady is Brady. Can the Pats bring the Saints down a peg? Saints 38 – Patriots 30.

Arizona @ San Francisco – The Niners look to have things back n order and the Cardinal defense is looking better thanks to the return of Darryl Washington. The 49er offense is in better shape and the defense is great as well. This is a big game for both, but San Francisco is the better overall team. Still should be close. 49ers 26 – Cardinals 20.

Washington @ Dallas – This divisional rivalry is one of the best. Romo is coming off a career game that was a loss due to one interception: only his second of the year. Washington’s offense has not been bad, but the defense is woeful. They are coming off a bye and are looking to get on track. Dallas is coming off a difficult loss in which they had the Broncos on the ropes. This is a classic matchup of two teams who hate each other. Cowboys 28 – Redskins 27.

Indianapolis @ San Diego – Indy has been man-handling the like of San Francisco and Seattle. Phillip Rivers is reviving his old self and is leading the 5th ranked offense in the NFL. The Colts are rushing the ball well, have a respectable defense and Andrew Luck knows how to win. They are looking to take control of the AFC South, but San Diego is looking to stay in the playoff hunt.  The Colts are impressive so far this year. Colts 31-Chargers 28.
